Winnipeg, The Capital

Winnipeg is near the longitudinal centre of North America, approximately 110 kilometers (70 mi) north of the Canada–United States border.  The city is named after the nearby Lake Winnipeg; the name comes from the Western Cree words for muddy water.  Winnipeg is the seventh most populated municipality (800,000 people) in Canada.  Known as the “Gateway to the West”, Winnipeg is a railway and transportation hub with a diversified economy. This multicultural city hosts numerous annual festivals.  It is home to several professional sports franchises, including the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Canadian football), the Winnipeg Jets (ice hockey), Manitoba Moose (ice hockey), Valour FC (soccer), and the Winnipeg Goldeyes (baseball).

Our host venue is the Delta Hotels Winnipeg By Marriott located in the heart of the city and connected to the city’s sky bridge walkways with easy access to the RBC Convention Centre, Bell MTS Place, restaurants & shops.

Delegate hotel guestrooms are included in your congress registration.  Registration includes a standard guest room (one or two beds).  Suites are subject to availability with an additional surcharge. Our congress sessions, breakfasts, luncheons, and Saturday closing reception & banquet are hosted at the hotel.

Local Weather

The spring temperatures range from 17 degrees Celsius (62 degrees Fahrenheit) – 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day and 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit – 8 degrees Celsius (46 degrees Fahrenheit) in the evenings.

For Canadians, we recommend a sweater or spring jacket for evenings (Bermuda shorts optional) 

For everyone else, dress warm!

Congress Attire

Our congress is designed to allow delegates & guests to be comfortable.  Skal attire and regalia for the Opening Ceremonies.  For the rest of the Congress, we recommend smart casual attire and comfortable shoes.
